Every laptop at Genuine Junction goes through this checklist in our in-house lab before it reaches the shelf. Where a check fails, the part is repaired or replaced, and the laptop is graded honestly.

1. Display & body (5)

  1. Dead / stuck pixel test (red, green, blue, black, white screens)
  2. Backlight bleed, discoloration and brightness uniformity
  3. Hinge tension, alignment and smooth open/close
  4. Bezel, casing, rubber feet and screen frame condition
  5. Native resolution and smooth refresh

2. Keyboard, trackpad & input (5)

  1. Every key tested, including function and special keys
  2. Key feel and travel — no sticky or loose keys
  3. Keyboard backlight levels (if present)
  4. Trackpad tracking and multi-finger gestures
  5. Left/right click precision

3. Battery & power (5)

  1. Battery health: design capacity vs current capacity
  2. Charging current and voltage
  3. Charger output, cable and connector
  4. Real-world battery drain test
  5. Charging port fit (DC pin / Type-C)

4. Ports & connectivity (5)

  1. USB Type-A and Type-C data and power
  2. HDMI / DisplayPort external display output
  3. Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) stability and range
  4. Bluetooth pairing and transfer
  5. Headphone and microphone jack

5. Audio, camera & sensors (5)

  1. Left and right speakers — no crackle or imbalance
  2. Internal microphone clarity
  3. Webcam clarity and frame rate
  4. Webcam privacy shutter (if present)
  5. Fingerprint / Windows Hello (if present)

6. Core hardware & storage (5)

  1. CPU stress test under multi-core load
  2. RAM read/write and stability test
  3. SSD/HDD health, SMART status and speed
  4. Integrated / dedicated GPU stress test
  5. Motherboard inspection, including signs of past liquid damage

7. Thermals & cooling (5)

  1. Thermal paste inspection, replaced where required
  2. Fan response to temperature changes
  3. Fan noise and bearing check
  4. Heat-pipe and vent airflow
  5. Temperature monitoring at full load — no overheating shutdowns

8. Software & final polish (5)

  1. Genuine Windows activation and clean setup (macOS for MacBooks)
  2. BIOS / firmware update, where required
  3. Fresh drivers installed
  4. Internal dust cleaning and exterior cleaning
  5. Final grade (A+, A or B) and quality sign-off
